1. Overview about Azm and Saade Association

Azm and Saade Association was founded twenty years ago. These 20 years likely correspond to 20 wheat plants, each plant containing 100 wheat grains, which had grown and germinate to assure welfare and development for human well being, in all domains, educational, social, religious, health, youth, sports and cultural levels.

We are not just mentioning what has been done during this period, but we are trying to highlight the role of the association and the efforts spent to face the consequences and the problems resulting from the political, economical and insecure incidents that Lebanese passed through. We will show you the association's future overview, so that the journey of welfare and donation continues on the path of principles, the association was built on.

Our mission is human welfare through caring and human development.

Our vision is to perfect the social organizational work with stronger determination (Azm) to spread more happiness (Saade).

Our values are honesty, cooperation, respect and dignity's preservation.

2. Health Division

Good health is a blessing from God, that's why the main purpose of the health division in Azm and Saade Association was to assure basics to get the best results, thus reaching healthy community.

The Health Division, in coordination with the social department, is trying to get the required balance between the social and the health status of the family which is the nucleus of the society.

The components of the Health Division are shown in the diagram below:

1.1. Health care centers, dispensaries and mobile clinics

At present, the monthly average of patients in the health division has exceeded 5000 patients, distributed by age and sex, as it is shown in the following diagrams:

To mention that the health division in Azm and Saade Association works on applying the health guidelines in all its departments; structure and processes including the information management system and the qualifications of the doctors and the paramedical staff.

Also, the Health Division is preparing its standars and procedures according to international basis. More over, we are preparing our centers to be accredited by the ministry of health.

1.1.1.Bab El Ramel Health Care Center

During September 2008, there was a shift in Bab El Ramel building as we moved from a dispensary to a health care center. This center is considered as the main center in the health division, it is formed of 10 specialist clinics plus a dental one.

It provides healthcare to more than 2500 person monthly, which is done through general medical doctors, pediatric and gynecological specialists.

Also, this center offers specialized welfare via all specializations through consultation, diagnosis, eyes' diagnosis equipment, ultra sound imaging, Doppler cardiac and X-ray.

There are about 750 chronic patients each month included in the healthcare programs for diabetes, blood pressure and other cardiovascular, neurological, endocrine and blood diseases.

1.1.2.Ghoraba – Tebbeneh Health Center

In the past years (2006 – 2009), the Tebbenh dispensary was a basic foundation for people in that region in terms of ensuring basic and specialized health care.

This dispensary contained 3 clinics, offering consultation by general medical doctors plus all specializations. It used to provide more than 1500 consultations each month. Due to the results of the field surveys and studies made, there was a need for a bigger and multidisciplinary center including all specializations,notably pneumonical diseases which is wide spread in this region.

Accordingly, the Ghoraba Health Center was equipped and it is composed of: (it will open its doors in March 2010)

1. General and specialized clinics (10 clinics plus one dental clinic on the 1st floor)
2. Pulmonary Diseases Department (2nd floor)

3. iii.            Spirometry clinic
4. iv.            Pulmonary infections clinic
3. X- Ray Department (underground floor- under construction)

4. Health Awareness Department and Medical Library (3rd floor)

1.1.3.Mankoubin Dispensary

It is located in Mankoubin – Badawi, in the northern part of Tripoli. It is one of the poorest regions and the Azm dispensary is the only health care center there. Even though it is composed of just two clinics with a waiting room and the supervisor's office, this center provides health care services to more than 1000 patient per month.

1.1.4.Kalamoun Health Care Center

The center is located in Kalamoun, west of Tripoli. It is formed of three clinics, a dental one and an X- Ray room (under construction).

It offers basic and specialized health care services to the people of this region. Also it provides Electrocardiogram (ECG) and ultrasound imaging.

Besides, there is also a special department for care and rehabilitation of blind people, plus a Human Development Center and Quran memorization department.

1.1.5.Abou Samra Specialized Health Care Center

This center includes:

1. General Pediatric Clinic
2. Specialized Pediatric Clinic
3. ENT (ear, nose and throat) clinic

the center provides specialized healthcare for children  besides the specialized scolar medicine (sight and hearing Examination for students).

Also, the center procure specialized health services for ear and orthophony and it has the newest electrograph machines:

* Audiogramme
* Tympanogramme
* VNG (video nystagmo graphe)
* PEA (Evoqued Auditif Potential)

1.1.6.Mobile clinics

The mobile clinics try to assure primary healthcare services for people in remote villages through a staff formed of a general medical doctor, a nurse, a nurse assistant and an administrative person (helpdesk service) for registration and preparation of medical record via a well equipped vehicle (mobile clinic).

Mobile clinics serve around 30 remote village in Akkar and Donniyeh. It tries to cover an optimal number of villages throughout periodical visits for patients follow up, survey studies and health awareness about public health topics (e. g: Clean water, food, contagious diseases, poisoning)

1.2. Azm Pharmacies

At present, Azm pharmacies procure basic and chronic medication for more than 4000 patients monthly.
Azm pharmacies are divided as follow:

1. Bab El Ramel Pharmacy (central): it satisfies patients' needs from Bab El Ramel, Mankoubin and Abou Samra centers
2. Kalamoun Pharmacy: it supplies Kalamoun center's patients with their needs.
3. Ghouraba Pharmacy (under construction): it will provide services for Ghoraba – Tebbeneh's and Mankoubin centers' patients.

As for the pharmacies' procedures, there is cooperation with international and local association to procure medication. Besides there is a budget determined by the association's administration to buy basic and chronic medications available in the local market.

Medication is dispensed for free according to:

1. the medical prescription issued from our dispensaries or centers.
2. the evaluation for the patient's profile, thus giving priority to people in need.

In the following chart, we note the average number of dispensed prescription in comparison with the average number of patients per month.

1.3. External Medical Services (EMS)

The External Medical Services Department provides medical and paramedical services including the following:

1- Services concerning the hospitalization and medical surgeries in hospitals based on the National Social Security uncovered fees.

2- Services in Diagnostic imaging fees

3- Services in medical laboratory analysis fees

4- Services in physiotherapy sessions' fees

5- Services in medical material and eye glasses fees

The department relays on the social evaluation of the patient's profile to determine the portion of support that should be given considering his health status and the procedures priority.

Health Awareness Department

The health awareness activity was provided in parallel with the healthcare procured to the patients, until a health awareness department has been established in the division.

The department's activity started during the war of Tebbeneh – Jabal Mehsen, by spreading awareness to refugees in schools and villages about the importance of hygiene (for adults and children) (7 refugee centers)

The department had received compliments, praise and thanks from all parties in the Emergency committee, especially the UNICEF and UNDP.

A continuous coordination and cooperation with the social department is maintained: Educational and health awareness activity is given to the Azm Summer Camping children about the following topics:

1. The risk of drug abuse (through an expressive role play prepared by the children themselves under the supervision of their trainer).
2. Reproductive health (puberty, sexual transmitted diseases and sexual abuse).

More over, Health Awareness Department had prepared:

Awareness Campaign about the importance of breastfeeding

Health awareness in coordination with the religious department about "fasting in Ramadan"

Many brochures, posters and billboards about public health awareness.

Seasonal health magazine "Health is your Happiness"(SOHTAK SAADTAK).
